Cloud computing ready?

Recently I was in two presentations on cloud computing, that got me interested in the topic.

Just curious, any idea what would be involved porting Broadleaf to Google App Engine platform? I understand the GAE's persistent layer is feature-limited, what other areas possibly need work?

Kelly Tisdell successfully deployed and ran the application on Amazon's EC2 cloud computing solution. He did a presentation on this process at DFW Java Users Group on 09/09/2009. I don't know if the presentation slides are avilable at javamug.org.

I will check with him for a response to your question.

pclin,

I received the following reply on deploying Broadleaf Commerce to Google App Engine:

I imagine that you can somehow. But probably not the way that you would do it on EC2. Google doesn’t just provide you pure infrastructure like Amazon and Rackspace. I think they provide a SDK and special deployment environment. They allow you to use standard APIs like JPA, Servlet, etc. I think that you would be able to get it deployed on Google, but it might require some work.

Here is the page on it:

I would also like to add that currently cloud computing environments do not meet PCI standards for credit card storage.

I am gonna check this..I am curious to know more about how application on Amazon's EC2 cloud computing solution running on Java.Does it requires specific platform? or it is event driven programming?
