Search facet appearing but not filtering?

I have added a new search facet which is using one of the product attributes just like the heatRange.
I created a search facet for it, it is present in both the BLC_FIELD table and the BLC_SEARCH_FACET table.
It is displayed in the search (also the facet quantity is also displayed). But when I am clicking on it to filter results corresponding to the facet, no filtered results are occurred i.e. NO FILTERING is done AT ALL!
What could be the problem?
