Hi ,
I am currently migrating from 1.6.0-M2-SNAPSHOT to 1.6.1-GA. There is no major problems for now because the gap is not so deep between these 2 versions, so the code migration has been pretty fast.

But I am thinking about migrating to 1.7, because there are new functionnalities and a necessary model refactoring (product and sku).
And because of the gap between our custom development (1.6 based) and the 1.7, the migration will be harder.
(From what i saw in the develop branch rest api will be very useful )

I have a more general question about the releases date:

How do the Broadleaf team decide about the release dates ?
Is it possible to have an estimate date of a 1.7-M1-SNAPSHOT and a demo site working on this Snapshot ?

I think that having (estimate) date of version*, will help us (and other blc developers) to

- decide or not to migrate.
- anticipate migration.
- decide to wait or develop a feature that be available in the next version

If you are not yet in production, I would seriously consider upgrading to 2.0. The changes are fairly large, but 2.0 has a lot of new features. Among these features are product bundling, better shipping calculation support, template support, Spring 3.1 upgrade, and others. The change from 1.6 to 2.0 is fairly large, but will be worth it. 2.0 will be released later this week.

I found a BroadleafCommerce-2.0.0-M1-x in GitHub. I believe it was put yesterday or the day before. Is this what you were talking about?

That branch is the current holding spot for what will be the 2.0 milestone 1 release, but there is some code that has not found its way into that branch just yet. We will also have a new starter project that you can base your work off of which is also scheduled to be released later this week.

If you could hold off for a few more days, we can guarantee it will be worth it for you.

A formalized feature / changelist for 2.0 has not yet been made -- that will likely happen closer to the GA release of 2.0

Is there any changes happening to the data model regarding the user management aspect in 2.0? we have a requirement to change the user management area in the BLC data model. We dont want to rush things if there's going to be a major change in the section.
