Creating a freebie offer, Buy X get Y

Hi All,
This looks to be a very simple case but somehow not able to crack this in broadleaf.
I need to create a freebie offer based on either a case automatically added or based on coupon code.
1) The case is if X is added to the cart then Y gets automatically added
or
2) If X and Y are there in the cart then when code is applied, Y cost is made to 0.
Getting either if the functionality is good for me.
I though see this portion in admin
"Should this offer target orders with specific items (e.g. Buy X get Y)?"
But not able to configure rules around it.
I am on 3.1.7 community. Am i missing something out here..
Thanks
Dev

The case is if X is added to the cart then Y gets automatically added
This is not something that is currently supported. Items cannot be automatically added.
If X and Y are there in the cart then when code is applied, Y cost is made to 0.
Yup, you can either use fixed price of 0 or percentage off to 100. Here is an example:

Thanks Phillip for your response.
Also, can you help me understand these conditions in offer creation.
Item Qualifier Rule ..
Item Target Rule
(Both have sample options)
Combinable (Yes/No)
Targets and Qualifiers Must Be Related(Yes/No)
I am not able to figure out in what conditions they will be useful and how to use them...
Thanks in advance...

Item qualifier rule - a rule that will make the offer actually apply to the order/order item/fulfillment group
Item target rule - a rule that says that the discount should apply to the items that fall within the rule
Combinable - if you can combine this offer with other offers (so multiple discounts)
Targets and Qualifiers Must Be Related(Yes/No) - not sure where you're seeing this

Hi Phillip,
Thanks for your response, But for the points mentioned below i was looking for explanation how they behave on advance tab. Sorry, but I need your help in understanding the different options out there. As for the freebie offer, you suggested a configuration, which was not touching any of those options. So need to understand cases under which these options should be used.

These all 4 configurations are there on the Advanced Configuration of Offer Detail Page. I am attaching a screen shot of the same.
Thanks in advance.
