Needs timely answering of questions

While I really think that the framework you've created is a wonderful thing, so far I can't say the same about the timeliness of the forum. To date I have asked three separate questions, but I still have yet to get a single reply to any question. I think that to make the forum successful, you need to put a timeout on each question. If not answered by another forum member then one of the Broadleaf team members should step in and make an attempt. In order for me to be successful, and I imagine most others who would use this framework, I need to get timely answers to basic questions. Thanks.

Chris

We put forth our best effort to reply to questions posed in this forum within a day or two, but please realize that this is a free service we provide to go along with our free software, and we do have other responsibilities that may take priority.

There are many answers to questions on this forum, and we have also dedicated many hours to creating documentation.

If these services don't meet your needs, we offer professional help, which you can find an overview of at http://broadleafcommerce.com/services. Please contact us if we can be of assistance in your project.

Thanks for your reply. I do understand that the framework is free, and I do not want to appear like I do not appreciate your efforts. I think you have created a fantastic framework. I hope that one day, if I can learn enough about the framework, I can help out answering questions as well - or perhaps add documentation.

One idea for your documentation page, is it possible to to put a search widget into that area? I read it often and I sometimes have issues remembering where a particular "nugget" resides.

That can probably be done.

In the meantime, you can utilize Google's site: prefix. For example, try the following query in Google:

Code: Select all

workflow site:docs.broadleafcommerce.org/current

Ah, of course! I always forget about Google's "site:' functionality. Thanks for reminding me! Works like a charm.

Great, glad to hear it.

I plan on adding a filter for page name to the sidebar, but I haven't gotten around to it :)

I, too, appreciate the efforts of the Broadleaf team. Still, in any open-source software project, coding is only half the story. The other half is building a vibrant community. Key to this is producing good documentation (so far so good), and assisting new users who encounter problems using the software. This breeds success, as these users in turn grow sufficiently competent and confident to assist others. :-)

A suggestion might be to create a roster system, so that all members of the Broadleaf team take their turn in participating in these forums (not just phillipuniverse) Believe me, Broadleaf will truly benefit from the effort.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks,

Chris.
