Arrange categories alphabetically

Hello again,

First of all I would like to thank everyone for their help so far it has been great.

Now my question is how could I make sure the catagories and sub catagories in my menu are always displayed in always displayed in alphabetical order.

I am not sure where I should I should start with this.

You could write a Thymeleaf processor to take in a list of categories and then sort them for you. You could also then have Thymeleaf add the sorted list of categories to the model.

You could also override the CategoriesProcessor for your own processor that ensures that it will sort the list of top-level categories by name. Currently it just looks them up in the database without any specific ordering.

Thank you Phillip. The latter option of overriding the CategoriesProcessor seems like the way to go. Could you give some sort of example?

Anyone have any ideas for this, I know javascript would possibly work but I really don't want to if I can help it.

Look at Collections.sort. You can pass in the List<Category> and a Comparator that compares the names of the categories.

Try just Googling for "sort a list in Java"
